Ten minutes …

I set the phone down and finished drying myself off. I’d already shaved my legs before getting in the shower, so there was nothing to do now but make sure I looked nice by the time Kyle had arrived.

I left the bathroom and went downstairs.

There was a knock at the door, and I went to answer it, wearing only my robe. He stood in the doorway and I smiled to greet him.

“You’re running late,” I said.

“I made it here, didn’t I?” he said, grinning. He stepped into my house without asking permission to enter, “Do you need to get dressed?”

“What’s the point?” I said.

“I was thinking we could go somewhere else this time.”

“Oh,” I said, “where?”

He gestured out the door, across the street, “my house.”

“Why?” I asked, genuinely curious, “are you afraid that my boyfriend will come back or something?”

“No, that’s not it,” he said, “We just did it here last time, and I thought it’d be nice if we switched things up a bit.”

“So you’ve gotten bored already?”

He stepped up and kissed me on the lips, letting his tongue taste my lips at the same time. When we separated, he said, “Hardly. I want you to see my house.”

“I can see your house from here.”

“You know what I mean,” he said, “now stop resisting.”

“I suppose I should put clothes on.”

“If you insist.”

He released me and I went upstairs to retrieve some clothing. I didn’t need anything fancy, I just didn’t want to be seen walking across the street in my robe later that day.

As I got dressed, I thought about the time of the day, and how it was possible that my boyfriend could come home early, in accordance with that terrible cliché. Maybe Kyle wasn’t very worried about it, but suddenly I felt that I was. And so it was with a decent amount of relief that I finished getting dressed, left the house, locked the door, and journeyed across the street to his house instead.
